2024 Bournemouth Air Show

The branch was out in force from the 29 - 31 August at the Bournemouth Air Festival ensuring that the TRMC-RMA and our Branch were represented at the RN Village co-located with the serving members of our Corps.

Our primary aim was to engage with the veteran community, network with local veteran charities and raise funds for the TRMC-RMA.  We estimated that we spoke to over 20 former Royal Marines and family members during the three days, including potential associate members from the RN NGS community who have served at RM Poole and still live locally.  Our branch handout was well-received with a promise to get in touch.

We were visited by Brigadier Graeme ‘Jock’ Fraser MBE ADC who has responsibilities for RN RM visibility and engagement.

We raised £465 for the TRMC-RMA, which was better than we expected, with half taken on card readers.  We had very little to offer in the way of items of interest to entice the public to our stall in comparison to other well-appointed stalls from the RN and Army,  as usual, the best gizit was the cheapest item, the humble sticker, and luckily, we had some, including those dating back to past recruiting campaigns like 99% Need not apply, which excited our most enthusiastic collector, who started collecting in 2017.

We are fortunate to have been supported by the RMA-TRMC and have our own branded gazebo, but our pull-up displays are woefully out of date, and we could do with acquiring a couple of teardrop banners similar to those on the RN and RM displays. Food for thought?

The Team

I must thank those members who manned our stall daily from 0900 - 18-00 over the three days of the festival and those involved in the preparation and recovery.

So, a big BZ goes out to - Nick Smart, John Wintel, John Seymore, Keith Sanders and David Williams, Wally Knobble, Paul Jobling, and Clive Jennings.

Gentlemen, I thank you.
